Transferring to another Registrar

Written by Garrett Saundry

While we hate to see anyone move a domain away from us, we do understand that this may be occasionally necessary.

You can obtain your transfer authentication code as well as unlock your domain by browsing to the following, once logged into your Webnames.ca account:

  1. Navigate to My Account > Manage > Domains

  2. Click on your domain name

  3. Under the Domain Actions section and Transfers, click on Auth Code.

  4. In most cases, your domain's auth code request will be reviewed by Webnames staff, and after being verified as a legitimate request, the code will be sent to you via email.

  • Verification is performed via the phone number on your Webnames account.

  • Auth codes are delivered via email to the email address on your Webnames account.

A new Transfer Authorization Code will be generated each time one is requested, and for security purposes will be rotated every 90 days, provided a transfer of the domain is not currently in progress.
