Which ACME Setup Guide Should I Use?

Written by Garrett Saundry

Overview

The correct ACME setup guide depends on where your website is hosted and how your DNS is managed.

If you're unsure which guide applies to your environment, start by identifying your hosting platform and DNS provider.

Deployment Guide Selection

Webnames Plesk Hosting

Choose this option if your website is hosted on a Webnames Plesk hosting account.

This is generally the simplest deployment model and is designed for automated certificate management.

Webnames DNS Hosting

Choose this option if your DNS is hosted by Webnames and you wish to automate DNS validation using a supported ACME client.

Third-Party DNS Provider

Choose this option if your DNS is managed by:

  • Cloudflare

  • Amazon Route 53

  • Azure DNS

  • Google Cloud DNS

  • Another supported DNS platform

Manual DNS Validation

Choose this option if your DNS provider does not offer suitable automation capabilities or if you prefer to manage validation records manually.
